At the Simulation and Training Centre of the Anaesthesiology Clinic in Erlangen, students will train individual medical patient care with the virtual reality software i:medtasim in the coming semester.

The Anaesthesiology Clinic Erlangen is thus the first medical faculty in Bavaria to regularly use the “virtual reality” method based on the i:medtasim software from TriCAT GmbH in Ulm in medical teaching and studies. The i:medtasim software was officially handed over to Dr Björn Lütcke, Head of the Simulation Centre, and the VR team by Markus Neuberger, Business Unit Manager Medicine/Healthcare at TriCAT GmbH, as early as 14.07.2021.

“Through the digital transformation in medicine and medical education, areas of medical training are being further developed in an agile and efficient manner. We are therefore very pleased to be using TriCAT’s VR learning environment i:medtasim, a technology that can optimally support this process of change.”

The introduction to the system and the “train-the-trainer” training took place on the same day. The Anaesthesiology Clinic of the University Hospital Erlangen established one of the first simulation and training centres in Germany at the time and has thus been involved in the conceptualisation, curricular implementation and scientific research of the learning process in virtual realities for many years.
